More ‘Bang for your Buck’ with Holland America’s newest beverage package

After a busy day spent exploring new sights on shore, many cruise guests enjoy nothing more than sitting back in one of a ship’s numerous bars, enjoying a hand-crafted pre-dinner drink. Holland America Line has now made that even more affordable with the introduction of their new ‘Elite’ beverage package, featuring only the very best drinks and cocktails from their extensive selection.

Drinks packages on cruise lines are often deemed to offer the best value for money for guests, including everything from your morning coffee and juices, to alcoholic choices such as beers, wines, and cocktails, at a fixed daily rate. Until now, Holland America Line offered a number of different packages covering both alcoholic and soft drinks, with extra packages for selected ships offering the Coca-Cola Freestyle system. For Wine enthusiasts, the Cellar Master package includes hand-picked wines, exclusive wine tastings and a dinner reservation at the Pinnacle Grill, as well as post-cruise goodies to take home.

However, in line with current industry trends for premium and craft beverages, the team at Holland America have taken the opportunity to create a new tier of beverage package, featuring only the very finest products in their portfolio. Dubbed the ‘Elite Beverage Package’, the offer includes any premium Spirits, Wines, Beers and Cocktails up to the value of $15 per serve. Tea, Coffee, Drinking Water & Soft Drinks are all included, too, making the package a potentially attractive offer at just $54.95 per person per day. In fact, you would only need to consume four drinks at the maximum value per day in order to recoup your investment, although it is worth noting that a mandatory 15% service charge is added to all beverage sales.

As part of the new package, Holland America has teamed up with renowned Master Mixologist Dale DeGroff, to create new luxurious cocktails which by many are considered to be the crowning glory of the new package. DeGroff rose to bartending stardom in the late 1980s at the Rainbow Room of Manhattan’s Rockefeller Centre and was later credited as being the man who re-invented professional bartending. His gourmet approach to crafting classic cocktails has resulted in him being considered one of the world’s great authorities on mixed and distilled drinks, and his partnership with Holland America is sure to add even more credibility to the line’s highly regarded drinks portfolio.

DeGroff classics such as The Ritz Cocktail and The Hemingway Martini are staples of the cocktail listing and are individually hand-crafted for customers on board. Exclusive to Holland America’s ships is a new DeGroff creation, The Midnight Sun, crafted to celebrate the line’s 70th year of operating in and around Alaska. Whilst the exact recipe remains a closely guarded secret, it’s pedigree guarantees a well-rounded drinking experience, suited perfectly to pre-dinner relaxation.

As with all beverage packages, the Elite package should be booked pre-departure to ensure you receive the best price and get the most value for money on your next cruising adventure.
